Eagle Pass, TX. July 13, 2026 — Today, a strong local team announced new grant funds to fight the digital divide. Led by Frontera Federation, Mission Border Hope, and First United Methodist Church, this project brings tech training straight to Maverick County adults. The 12-week program teaches vital skills like internet safety, scam defense, and online health tools.
With funds in hand, the team is moving fast. Their next steps are to buy equipment—like tablets and mobile hotspots—and find open spots for community classes. They will also train local volunteers as Digital Health Navigators. These trusted leaders will keep teaching safety skills long after the formal classes end.
This plan blends health care with community trust. A dedicated Wesley Nurse from Methodist Healthcare Ministries will meet with patients, find those who need tech support, and connect them to the classes. By pairing health care with a safe space at Mission Border Hope, the program meets people right where they are.
